
6- Oct, 2024, Kwarhi, Nigeria – In a remarkable display of Humility, Unity, Love and Faith, members of the EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, came together nationwide to observe the World Communion Day, a global Christian tradition.
The communion service was observed simultaneously across Nigeria, with EYN churches nationwide participating in Feet Washing, Fellowship Meal and drinking the wine and bread, at their various Local Church Council.
The EYN President Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD, Vice President Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba and his wife Mrs. Rhoda Nuhu with other top National officials joined the congregation at EYN Headquarters Church in Kwarhi for the communion service.
Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD, EYN President in his greetings during the service emphasized the significance of Holy communion for Christians, explaining that it signifies God’s love for humanity, which makes it necessary for every Christian to partake. “Globally the world is at the Lords table, as today marks the World Communion Day, therefore, today’s Communion Service reminds us of our shared faith and commitment to serving God and humanity. We stand together as one body, united in our diversity.
Rev. Midala Danbaki, Pastor in charge of EYN Headquarters Church, welcomed members to the service, calling on them to show fellowship with each other and come before the Lord’s table with joy, humility, and a pure heart. He appreciated the congregants for their constant contribution to the Church treasury despite the hard economic meltdown in the country.
Rev. John Wada Zambwa, EYN Director of Audit and Compliance, who officiated the communion Service, in his sermon, drawn from Hebrews 1:1-4, 2:5-12, tagged “The Humility of Jesus Christ on the Cross: A Demonstration of His Love to Mankind” explained that God loves man, that is why He created all things before creating man, so man wouldn’t lack anything.”
Rev. Zambwa emphasized. “God created man in His likeness to be like Him. Today’s communion is a chance to rebuild our relationship with God, which was broken due to sin.”
Rev. Zambwa further stressed, “The holy communion represents an opportunity for us to reconcile with God and with one another. Let us remember that our relationship with God is paramount, and this communion service serves as a reminder of that.”
