Tuesday, May 13, 2025 –— The President, Rev. Dr. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD, has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of two individuals who lost their lives in a recent bomb blast along the Damboa-Maiduguri, road. The deadly incident, which killed two passengers in pick-up vehicle conveying mangoes and soem animals, underscores the ongoing insecurity troubling communities across northeastern Nigeria.
The victims, Miss Blessing and Mr. Gideon Vitalis Lkama, died instantly in the explosion. Miss Blessing Luka, the only child of her parents, was a devoted member of EYN LCC Chibok 1. Mr. Gideon Lkama, who worshipped with the Catholic Church, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fami Patrick—daughter of a retired Reverend who served with EYN.

Rev. Dr. Mbaya, accompanied by a delegation of senior EYN leaders—including Rev. James K. Musa (EYN General Secretary), Rev. Eli Samuel (Secretary to the Ministers Council), Mrs. Hassana Habu (Director, Women Ministry), and Mrs. Rhoda Nuhu (wife of the EYN Vice President)—visited both bereaved families to personally express condolences, pray with them, and offer comfort.
In his message, the EYN President urged the families to take solace in the sovereignty of God, reminding them that though death is painful, it is inevitable. “God knows the reason behind every painful experience, and He may have a greater plan ahead,” he said. He reassured the grieving families that they are not alone, affirming that the entire EYN leadership stands with them in prayer and support during this time of loss.

Rev. Dr. Mbaya also used the occasion to call on both the Borno State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria to take decisive and permanent action to end the ongoing killings of innocent citizens in Borno and across the country. “This violence must not be allowed to continue. We urge the government to take stronger steps to protect the lives of its people and bring lasting peace to our land,” he emphasized.

The visit served as both a spiritual and moral boost for the grieving families and a strong statement of solidarity from EYN, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to justice, peace, and the well-being of all people—regardless of denomination or background.
